19 months

Our AJ is 19 months old

  • I'm afraid these updates may get shorter and shorter as my due date approaches. My energy is limited these days chasing after Avery in this heat!
  • Not long after she turned 18 months old she stopped sleeping for her afternoon nap and I thought maybe she was ready to drop a nap. I have spent this last week trouble shooting and trying to stick with 2 naps but it seems like she is just not going to cooperate. She takes a morning nap just fine but the can take up to 2 hours to fall asleep for her afternoon nap. So we are slowly moving her to a one nap schedule.  Ahh my little baby is really growing up.
  • She now calls herself A Jo. She used to just say "A" but about a week and a half ago she added her middle name.
  • She has started undressing in her crib. I looked on her video monitor last week and she only had her skirt on, she had taken her tank top completely off and was looking at it.
  • She said her first sentence... I had many people around to confirm, it sounded like she said "I don't want that". She was eating her lunch in her high chair at my parents house and someone asked her if she wanted something. Crazy. This week she also said "I want milk". WOW
  • Avery and I played out in the rain last week. She loved splashing around and was soaking wet. She also didn't want to come inside but the thunder did scare her. She would attach herself to my legs when she heard it.
  • It continues to amaze me how much Avery picks up on what we say. She pointed to a boat earlier this week and said "sailboat", I didn't teach her that! She also said "butt paste" one evening when I was putting on her nighttime diaper, time to start watching what we say closely. :)
  • I painted Avery's toenails for the first time this month, I had to do it while she was eating in her highchair or else she probably wouldn't sit still long enough. She loves to talk about her "pretty toes" as she calls them.
  • Earlier this week Avery and I took a trip to Target, when I got her out of the car the first thing she said was "shopping cart". I guess its because I always tell her she is going to take a ride in the shopping cart when we go shopping. She picks up everything.
  • Ave has started wanting to feed herself, she can do pretty well with foods like mashed potatoes, applesauce and yogurt but she is still learning how to really pick small things up with a spoon or fork. She still wants to turn the spoon over before it gets to her mouth, learning process.
  • She also got very excited to set up for pictures today (boy, was I happy too) she tried to smile but everytime she does she lifts her chin up and you can't see her face. we're working on it but at least I wasn't met with tears this time.

Edmond Baby shower

Over the weekend of May 14th we traveled to Oklahoma to spend some time with my family and celebrate the upcoming arrival of baby Liam with a baby shower. My sister did such a cute job with the shower. I wish I would've taken more pics. The weather was also perfect, we played games, ate yummy food and opened presents outside. My grandparents were also able to make a trip to Edmond and it was so great to see them both. Here are a few pics I did get;
The adorable and super yummy "birds nest" cupcakes my sister made
Such a cute diaper cake my sis made
 My fabulous sister and I
 Me, sissy and Mommom
 Mom, me and Chels
My sister's backyard and some of the guests
Such a yummy and adorable spread
 Brooke and I
Tee and I (she's due exactly 4 weeks after me)
I'm so mad I didn't get even one pic of melissa and I :(
Thanks so much to my sister for throwing me a wonderful shower

Nursery update

It only took a few hours and lots of math but Liam's room is painted!! It looks amazing. Check out the pics;
Deciding which shades of blue! (we chose the right side bottom 2!)

Chris painted the walls

It took lots of math, measuring, and tape!

Almost done...

Avery wanted to help out too...

The finished project!! I think it looks awesome, exactly how I had it pictured in my mind. Thanks Rusty and Cindy!!!

28 week update

Today I saw my doctor for my 28 week visit. We also got an ultrasound to check Liam's brain and heart. He would not show us his face today, kept his hands up by his face the whole time no matter what position I laid in or how much we poked at him. We got one funny picture(full hand in front of his face) and the tech put up the caption "No pictures please". He is absolutely perfect, measuring right on schedule and weighing in at almost 3lbs. So far I've gained 13lbs according to the doc scale (although I lost 3lbs before my first visit at 8wks). My blood pressure was 98/70, yes its ALWAYS low. :) its kind of my trademark. Liam's heartbeat was 141 and he was squirming like crazy. He seems so much stronger than I remember Avery was and more active. He is also head up, butt down (breech) but he still has lots of time to flip. Can't believe it but I go back in 2 weeks. Its flying by so fast. Its hard to believe we have less than 12 weeks. This weekend Avery and I are heading to Oklahoma for my baby shower. I can't wait to spend time with my family (my grandparents are coming to town) and friends. Chris will be able to come in after the weekend and drive back with us.

We have started working on Liam's nursery. Of course we are doing an airplane theme with blue walls and an accent harlequin wall. Hopefully I'll have a pic later this week on the paint progress. :) July will be here before we know it.

Baby Boy

We had a 3D/4D ultrasound today, our 2nd to last one, and got some really cute pics of our little guy! He's already got chunky little cheeks!

We have decided on a name; Liam David Rhodes!!
I think he looks alot like Avery did, same cute little nose, but I think he looks a little more like chris! time will tell, less than 12 weeks to go!

18 months

Our little lovebug is 1 1/2 years old!
  • At her doc appt this morning she weighed 26 lbs and was 32 in long (all in the 75th percentile!)
  • She learned some new words (although she likes to try to repeat any words you say), mailman, highchair, sky, pretty and elbow. She knows where her elbow is too!
  • She got one huge goose-egg on her forehead this month, poor baby, tripped and fell on the concrete. It didn't stop her for long and fortunately was much better by the next day.
  • Avery has overcome her fear of swimming lessons, she used to love her lessons but went through a couple months where she would just cry the entire time and wouldn't go underwater! I'm pleased to say that now she is back to loving it! she even puts her own head underwater. She is a fabulous back floater and also tries to blow bubbles.
  • She can now reach the kitchen table and kitchen counters and take things that are close to the edge. Look out!!!
  • She likes to walk down the driveway waving and saying bye-bye, she gets to the sidewalk and turns around saying "home"!
  • Avery has started giving "squeezes" she will open her arms and wrap them around you, still working on teaching her to squeeze back!
  • When she hears or sees me get my keys out she immediately says "bye-bye momma".
  • Avery tried watermelon for the first time and loves it! I wasn't surprised though, who doesn't like watermelon? :)
  • Avery has definitely started her "terrible 2's" at least where tantrums are concerned. She knows what she wants and when she is told no she has started throwing fits. Especially when she wants a snack "nack" and its not time for a snack yet!
  • When she gets scared now she will start saying "home". Its too cute.
  • I have been trying to get Avery away from saying "yep" and to say "yes" instead but I'm noticing that I use the word "yep" way too much. Probably where she got it! oops!!!
  • Avery loves to try to kiss and feed "bubba". She tries to feed my belly!! its too cute.
  • She does the sweetest thing before naptime. She has never been a cuddly baby but now when she gets her paci and lovey she lays her head down on our shoulder while we sing "twinkle twinkle little star". Sometimes she will wrap her arms around whoever is holding her and even give a couple pats! Its a very sweet moment and I think it really relaxes her.
  • Avery has started signing "thank you" without us asking her to. Usually when I give her food she will sign thank you! Its so cute.
  • Avery used to be a fast eater and now she is VERY slow! She gets easily distracted unless you give her goldfish, cheerios or cookies!
I can't believe she is already a year and a half!!!!
