New Wheels

We've had some beautiful days lately. The weather has been 70 degrees and sunny! Avery and I have taken full advantage of it and gotten outside for some sun. Avery also got a new set of wheels. I had debated on getting her a 2-seater wagon since she is getting a sibling but then decided that it would be awhile before the baby can ride in it and all my mommy friends have raved about this little car. They were all right, Ave loves riding in her car!! Its really easy to push around too which will be nice this summer when I'll be too tired to pull a wagon :) check her out...

The pic below is of Ave in the bathtub, she loves the overdrain, she can see herself and loves to talk and dance. She also loves to peek over to see momma and dada!!

15 months old

15 months old!!!!!! WOW!

  • Avery got her first ear infection this month and also got a nasty cough! This kept her down for a few days.
  • Avery will now come to you and say "UP" when she wants you to hold her!
  • She also says "UM" alot, I must say um alot...
  • Avery has become much better coordinated, she loves to climb the stairs on her slide by herself. She still doesn't have the best balance but she's working on it!
  • Her appetite has grown like crazy this month, seems she is constantly telling me she wants to eat! She will eat almost everything I put in front of her. Her favorite veggie is carrots and her favorite fruit is strawberries but she will eat any fruit!
  • We announced this month that Avery is getting a brother or sister this summer. :) she will even touch my belly when we ask her where the baby is!
  • Avery isn't as interested in the TV these days, she will watch for a little while and then move on to other things. However, the other night she did start singing and dancing with American Idol.
  • Its amazing how fast she picks things up, she knows to climb the stairs to her slide and wait, calling for me before she slides down!!! We were walking through the frozen food section at Walmart and she starts blowing, I asked her what she was doing and she pointed to the frozen vegetables that I buy for her, I always blow on them before giving them to her! Amazing what she puts together!
  • At her 15 month check up she weighed 23.3lbs(50th percentile) and was 31 inches (70th percentile)! Her doc said she looked great!
  • I'm sure every mother says this but I feel like she is too smart sometimes. I may be in for trouble. She definitely understands more than we give her credit for.
  • Her favorite stuffed animal is Winnie the Pooh she got from chris' grandparents! she loves to hug him and always calls out when she sees him.
  • She also loves balls, she has a soccer ball, football and basketball and she loves to throw them around.
  • Avery loves the overdrain in the bathtub. She can see herself in it and loves to talk and move around. She also likes to peek to the side so she can see momma or dada!
  • I'm trying very hard to feed Avery as healthy as I can. i.e. organic, non processed foods. She is great at eating lots of fruit and vegetables and I'm going to try to keep her from any fried foods or fast foods for as long as possible! She has no idea what it is so no need to introduce it yet. I only want the best for her and by feeding her healthy I feel like I am creating the best start for her in life! :)
  • The only way I can get her to smile for pictures these days is to sing "If you're happy and you know it", she loves to clap and stomp her feet with the song!

too funny

So they say that kids can sleep anywhere.. well its true. This morning Avery fell asleep upright in the corner of her crib! I had to take a video or I might not have even believed it!

another slide video

I hadn't realized that the last post I put up was about Avery and her slide. This one is also, we've taught her that if she wants to slide she can climb up but has to wait for momma before she slides down!! I have many times heard her talking and saying momma thinking what is she doing, to then realize she's waiting on me to slide down. She cracks me up!
sorry its so far away, I was trying to hide so she would do her own thing and my phone doesn't zoom for videos! :)

slide

Avery got a slide jungle gym for Christmas from her Papa and Gramma! She has mastered climbing up the steps and has even slid down without my help! She loves her new slide;

Angry eyes

Avery loves to show us her "angry eyes"! Especially when she is mad, but lately we've been able to ask her to show us her angry eyes and she thinks its funny!

3 become 4

I have finally reached the point where I am comfortable telling the world our news! Almost all of you that read this blog know already but we are pregnant! Avery is getting a baby sister or brother at the end of the summer! I'm a little paranoid and I don't like announcing to the world until I reach 12 weeks and have heard the heartbeat with the doppler at my doctor's office. We did this today so now the world may know! :)
I bought Avery a Big Sister shirt shortly after we found out we were expecting and finally got to take her picture in it. We've had to wait since she has been sick (her first ear infection and cold). So here it is;

Spaghetti and toes

Avery was a big eater when we visited my parents over Christmas! Here is a video of her eating spaghetti and being a little stinker!
She enjoys testing my patience! Even though she's adorable when she does something she's not supposed to I have to stand my ground! For some reason she thinks its the greatest game! toddlerhood is gonna be fun...

Christmas!

We had a wonderful Christmas this year! It was still such a blessing to have Chris home with us! We spent Christmas Eve with The Rhodes family and drove up to Oklahoma Christmas day to spend time with The Thompsons! We did miss getting to spend time with my grandparents and the rest of the family in Arkansas! My grandparents were on a mission trip to Ecuador this year for Christmas!
Avery seemed very interested in the presents this year, I have no doubt that will only increase! :) Here are a few pics from our holiday season;

on the phone...

I took this video at my parents house this past week. I just love her gibberish and how she loves to talk on the phone! <3 turn up the volume for this one!

14 months old

  • It amazes me; everyday Avery shows me in a new way that she isn't a baby anymore! :(
  • She doesn't like holding my hand when she walks, she wants to do it on her own!
  • She had her last swimming lesson and when she went underwater she stayed under for 5 seconds!! and kicked her feet to get to me!
  • She loves to talk, she tries to "woof" like a dog, "baa" like a sheep "meow" like a cat and always says "duck" for the duck!
  • She loves to wave at everyone! especially in a check out line! she will wave and get this big smile on her face! she also loves to watch other children, she giggles and tries to talk to them
  • We had our first big fiasco, Avery got into Target's little box! She was only out of sight for a few seconds but boy did she play. not a fun mess to clean up.
  • She can take off walking almost in a run, she is getting fast!
  • We celebrated her 2nd Christmas, we spent Christmas eve with the Rhodes family and traveled to Oklahoma on Christmas day to spend time with the Thompson/Bushongs.
  • Avery loved unwrapping the presents and got a ton of fun new toys! I think her favorite is her dog, Violet, violet talks to avery about her favorite things and even says Avery's name!
  • Although we haven't made it fully public we did announce to family at Christmas that we are expecting Avery's little sister or brother, due late July/early August!
  • Avery's new favorite thing to do is when I tell her no she gets this mischievous smile on her face and keeps doing it! She laughs when I tell her no again, she thinks its a game!
  • This past week she has mastered getting up from sitting down without grabbing onto something to pull up with. She just puts her hands out and up she goes!
  • Avery learned how to say bye bye and yes (or yesh) this month. I'm sure she is probably saying more but I haven't been able to translate it yet! :) she enjoys trying to copy you!
  • She will say momma, dada, papa(for both grandpas), gigi(my mom), gaga(cindy), a(for aaron), shi-shi for ci ci, jay for jaden, E for emily, lala for layla and lela for ella!
*I haven't had a chance to upload the pics from Dec but I will try to get them up soon!
