7 months

Things we've noticed about Avery this past month:

*Last time I weighed her she was 19lbs! That was on our bathroom scale!

*She helped me celebrate my first mothers day! *She likes to stretch her legs out with the bottoms of her feet together! *She gets these little shivers every now and then, its so cute! *Avery has recently decided she does not want to eat the food I made for her! She chows down on the packaged food but turns her head to the food I cooked for her! stinker pot! *She has eaten (and liked) acorn, butternut and yellow squash, zucchini, bananas, prunes, pears, sweet potatoes (packaged) and peas (packaged)!

*She has started shaking her head when I try to feed her, not sure if she's really saying no but she won't eat when she does it! its funny! *She has become so aware of whats going on around her. She got very upset when I tried to vacuum the living room. and i thought babies liked noises. *Her cry has changed, she has a much louder and (seems to be) more aggressive cry! *I think she might be having nightmares, for awhile now she has been waking up crying 3-4 times a night, only cry for a few seconds, kick around and go back to sleep! not sure exactly what it is, my only guess is maybe it was nightmares or tummy aches! *No teeth yet! *Avery had her first "swim" in a pool at her Gramma and Papa's house! they turned on the heater so it was lukewarm for her! She seemed to love it. *She has finally gotten the hang of rolling over. She can do it from her tummy to her back now! *Avery loves being outside, we spend alot of time swinging on the back porch (in her new swing!) and she loves to look around. *She is getting better at grasping her toys, she even tried to launch from a sitting position to grab a toy. maybe closer to crawling? :) *She has learned a new trick: to fake cough! she does it quite often, I think she likes the attention!

A&E on a picnic

Avery and I met up with Karisa and Ella today for a picnic and concert. We went to downtown denton where they had a band playing outside the courthouse. The girls had a great time. After lunch we stopped in Beth Marie's and had a banana split! It was delicious. It was my first time to have their ice cream, the shop is really neat, it looks like an old fashioned soda fountain! Ave and I will definitely have to go back and bring chris! Here is a short video of the girls;

new swing

Avery has a new swing. Chris set it up on the back porch today and she got to take her first ride! I think she likes it!

She also had her first taste of fruit today! I mashed up a banana for her. She wasn't too sure about it, we'll see if she decides she likes it or not in the next few days...

as you may know, Avery has resisted rolling over for awhile now. Not only does she despise tummy time but she would actually push against you if you tried to roll her over. After alot of persistance I think she's finally gotten the hang of it! I have worked with her EVERYDAY! in the past couple days she's rolled over 7 times by herself! compared to only 3 times total before this week, I am very proud of her! :) Here are 2 videos i caught today;

baby chatter

Avery had such a good time last night over at Gramma and Papa's house she just had to tell all her friends! She has been cooing and "talking" all day long! When I read her bedtime story she pretty much read to me! :) Chris and I got to have a date night and we saw the movie Iron Man 2! It is nice (and important) to spend time together (thanks Rusty and Cindy)!!

She even gets so excited she gets choked up! don't worry, she's ok!

first bike ride!!

Chris took Avery on her first bike ride the other day! She may still be a bit too small for it but she loved it! He pulled her around the neighborhood to the pool. :)

peekaboo

well, I still can't get the peas video to upload for some reason. She doesn't seem to like the peas. She won't eat them, but then today she won't eat at all! not sure what is going on with her! I only gave her cereal this morning and she refused to eat, silly girl! we are going to try zucchini for lunch! at least she likes squash! :) Here is another video of Avery and I playing peekaboo;

peas and sippy cup

Avery had her first taste of green veggies tonight! She tried peas. I can't tell if she really liked them or not, she ate more than she did of the sweet potatoes but only ate half of a serving! Might just take some getting used to, they are chunkier than anything she's had before. She also drank from a sippy cup for the first time. I had been letting her play with it before she ate and she never would drink from it. Tonight she decided not only that she would try it out but that she liked it! Avery likes to play peek-a-boo with herself! In this video she used her changing mat! she has also used a blanket or burp cloths!

I snapped these 2 pics yesterday! I put Avery in her high chair and couldn't believe how big she looked in it! She has also refused to eat sweet potatoes! She loves squash but wouldn't even open her mouth for the sweet potatoes! Guess we'll just move on to GREEN veggies! :)

Avery and I went to the Rhodes house for dinner last night! We enjoyed visiting and I enjoyed the yummy food! :) thanks Cindy!

fake cough!

I finally captured a video of Avery's fake cough! little stinker! This was after a yummy lunch of squash!

I took this video last week, she loves to play with her toes, especially when I change her diaper. The noises she is making is her normal "talk". She hasn't tried to make any words out just sounds more like she is being fussy!

she would love to get her toes to her mouth but her little (lol) belly gets in the way! she does try though!

Wooley

Ave has a new best friend! His name is Wooley and he is her lovie (a lamb). She has started sleeping with this little guy across her. The other day, she was really fussy for her naps and I couldn't figure out why. Then I realized her lamb was at the foot of her bed and she couldn't reach it. Naps have been great since. When she first goes down she plays with it for a little while but it doesn't seem to keep her up!

Just waking up from her nap! I've started putting her down for a few naps a week in the pack & play so she is more familiar with it!

He is bigger than her for now! :)

Avery found the mirror on her jumperoo the other day! I caught a video of her looking at herself!

Photo Shoot

Chris' mom wanted one thing for Mothers day; a picture of all her kids (and grandkids). So, we all got together and had our pictures taken! We got some of the cutest pics of Avery and Parker!!

Avery has become quite the little model! All I had to do was play peek-a-boo with her to get her to smile! The only pics we couldn't get her to smile for were the one with all of us in it! I don't think she felt too comfortable with the photographer!

Squash

We gave Avery her first taste of squash yesterday! I was going to wait till Monday but she wouldn't eat cereal that morning so I thought maybe she was ready for something new! At this feeding she didn't eat very much, it was hard to tell if she didn't like it or just wasn't sure about it yet. That evening we gave her squash again and she ate great! She has a very hard time focusing, especially when the camera is around. If she sees target she gets distracted too! We went to lunch with Chris' family to celebrate mothers day and Grandma Bet's birthday! Avery was very interested in the food we were eating, she would even open and close her mouth when she watched someone eat!

Happy Mothers Day

Today is my first mothers day! Everyday makes me appreciate my own mother even more! Its the hardest, more rewarding job I've ever had! Wouldn't change it for the world! I love this little munchkin!!!

More swinging!

We met some of our friends at the park yesterday for a playdate! Ave and I couldn't stay long because it was so close to her naptime but I did get a few cute shots of her and her friend Layla swinging! I had no idea that the park swings were made for 2 kiddos. one either direction! lol. I had just assumed it was so you could put them in so they weren't facing the sun! I still have alot to learn! :)

Karisa and Ella came over the other day for a visit! K and I made more baby food, zuccini and green beans. We got the girls together in their matching outfits! I have decided we'll start Avery on yellow veggies Monday night!!! Chris will be home tomorrow so he can be here to feed her her first veggies!

Avery got a new friend last night for bathtime!! Check out those giggles! ahhhh, I could just die, she's so cute!

6 months old

1/2 a year old! i can't believe it!

Here's what we've noticed about Avery this past month; *She likes to give "kisses", they are open mouth but its so cute!! *She has mastered sitting up without support (beginning of April)!!! just reminds me how fast she is growing up! *We celebrated Avery's first easter! *Avery loves to grab her little toes!

*She has her daddy's feet, they sweat alot!! :) *Her personality is really starting to show! She is very determined and a little stubborn. *At her 6 month doctor appt she weighed 17lbs 14 oz (83rd percentile!) and was 26.3in long (75th percentile)!!! *I can finally eat dairy again!! Ice cream, milk, cheese! I still try to eat in moderation! :) *Avery and I took many car rides to Oklahoma this month! 4 weekends! it was alot of traveling and Avery did very good, I'm still amazed how good she is on a long car ride!! *Starting April 4th we dropped the pacifier! Avery now goes to sleep for her naps and at night on her own! *We have started dropping the swaddle!!! She started taking her naps unswaddled on April 29th. We are working on dropping it at night as well. *She had another blocked tear duct in her right eye which finally opened up at the beginning of April! *Her hair has started growing back and its BLONDE, very light, I think she may be a blonde haired blue eyed beauty :) !

*Her new favorite thing to do is to walk backwards! she loves to stand up (she bascically pulls herself up!), then takes little babysteps backwards. (with lots of help of course)

*Her doctor told us its time to lower her crib!!!

*Her eyes are still very blue.

*She notices everything. Especially Target. if he walks by she stares at him, or if she hears him meow she will look all over for him and if he's close enough she reaches out to him. So far he is tolerating it well.

*We started her on solids!! On April 27 we started her on oatmeal cereal. For the first week we gave her oatmeal at dinnertime, this week we are giving it to her for breakfast and dinner!

*She went through a growth spurt this month, had a rough time with her naps and was waking between 4am and 5:30am, but she is back to sleeping till 7 or 8!!!

*Avery's schedule these days; (this is more for me so I can look back and see!)

8am wake, nurse, solids

9:30-10am down for a nap

noon wake, nurse

1:30-2pm down for a nap

3:30pm wake, nurse

5pm down for a catnap

6-6:30pm wake, nurse, solids

7:15pm bathtime, book, bottle

8pm bedtime!

I'm hoping these next 6 months go by alot slower, but i have a feeling they won't!!

Avery's first swing!
