sitting up

Here is a quick video I captured of Avery sitting up by herself. She can only do it for a few seconds but she is getting closer to being able to do it all on her own!! She does faceplant at the end, not hard enough to really hurt her, I think it mostly startled her!

5 months old

here's what we've noticed about Avery this past month;

*I think she weighs about 16 lbs, but thats just on our bathroom scale! She doesn't go for a full doctor visit this month just for a shot! *She discovered her hands and likes to chew on her fingers (most of the time just her index finger), she doesn't seem interested in her thumb at all yet! She is also getting better each day using her hands! its fascinating to watch! *Her little giggle is very cute, seems to always been accompanied with a little cough at the end, guess she just gets too excited! *She officially can't wear size 3 month clothes anymore, a few 3-6mo still fit but mostly she wears 6 month clothes! *She is able to sit upright by herself for a few seconds, this started when she was about 19 weeks old. *She rolled over again on 3/19 (for Gigi and Grandpa) but chris and I missed it and she still has yet to really figure it out! *She grabbed her toes on 3/20 while I was changing her diaper! She's been working to get to her toes for awhile now! *Avery has started cooing and ooing alot!! She loves to "talk"! *Avery started waking up at 3am to "talk" to herself! Fortunately this only lasted a few nights! It was very cute tho! *This past week Avery has been sleeping through the night!!! from her bedtime at 7:30pm till 8am! occasionally she wakes up because she lost the paci but this happens much less than it used to! *She has also dropped her 4th nap, so she is now awake from 5-7:30pm and joins us for dinner! *She is back to sleeping in her crib in her own room!!! *I have been more hesitant to pack away her 3 month clothes, more so than even her newborn clothes. 6 month clothes just seem so big to me and I don't want her to grow up so FAST!!! *She has just started sucking on her lower lip, seems like a baby thing, her little friend Ella also does that!

ready for summer

Yesterday we went shopping in Southlake. My mom, dad and sister were here visiting! I was very excited about the warm weather and got to dress Avery up in one of her new summer outfits! Here are a few pics of her strawberry outfit...

She has been trying to grab her toes for awhile and finally got ahold of them this morning!!

4 month doc appt

At her 4 month check up (3/8/10) Avery had to get 2 shots :( She did great though, only cried till I picked her up. No fever, just a little fussy that evening!

she is soo big!! this was before the shots, hence the smile! she even smiled at the nurse, I dread the day she remembers getting shots!

Avery decided yesterday that she wanted to play with her pacifier. I put it in her hands and she kept trying to put it in her mouth. It was pretty funny to watch. She is getting much better about using her hands and now sucks on her fingers instead of her wrist! just shows how fast she is growing up!!! Here is the video I caught of it;

4 months

Another month has flown by!!! Here are some things we've noticed about Avery this past month;

• At her 4 month checkup (3/8) she weighed 14.7 oz (67th percentile!) and was 24.8 inches long (61st percentile!) this was a big jump, she was only in the 18th percentile in height at 2 months!!!! Big girl :D
• She drools ALL the time!
• She has started grabbing her toys in her activity gym and pulling on them. She will also grab blankets and pretty much anything she can grasp (including my hair, time for short hair again!)!
• She is in size 2 diapers now! and 3-6 month clothes!
• She has started to notice Target, and watches him if he walks by!
• She has been sleeping through the night!!! I think she had a growth spurt around 15 weeks and by 16 weeks was less cranky throughout the day and started going till 5 or 6am before getting hungry!! YAY!
• She seems to sleep better when daddy is home!
• She rolled over for the first time on March 1 at 6pm, but she has yet to do it again!!!
• She loves to stick out her tongue! i think she is trying to figure out what it is!
• She likes to look in the mirror. she smiles and coos. of course she doesn't know that she is looking at herself yet!
• Avery has developed the startle reflex. If she hears a loud noise or something moves quickly in front of her she will look scared! sometimes even cry! This started at about 15 weeks old!
• Avery laughed for the first time!! On 2/13. Chris' dad was holding her and Chris was laughing with her!
• She had her first full night away from Mommy and Daddy! My parents kept her overnight so I could celebrate Melissa's birthday with her! She did great for Gigi and Grandpa!
• We think she has been having some teething pains! sometimes she will cry out in pain! Chewing on something, toys or fingers, seem to help. (Chris cut his first tooth at 3 months!! ahh!)
• She still has brown hair but it is getting lighter and thinner!
• Along with the bald spot on the back of her head she now how 2 lines (with no hair) that go around her head from the bald spot to her ears! looks like she has a bowl cut!

FLYING

so its been a little while since I've been up in the air and I finally got to spread my wings! my last flight at Eagle was at the end of July, but my last flight in a small plane was January 2006!!!!! My friend Brittany works at a flight school up in Denton, TX and she was able to take me up and get me checked out in a Cessna 172! now I can go rent an airplane and fly around for fun!!!!! We had such a fun time on our flight, we did some stalls, slow flight, steep turns, we even buzzed my friend Shila's house! I was pleasantly surprised that I had not forgotten completely how to land! My landings were much better than I thought they would be. :D

Avery had her 2nd professional photo shoot today! she did pretty good for it, no meltdowns! but she didn't want to smile, lol! We worked hard to get her to smile but she just sat there content! Here are some of my favorites....

roll over

Here is the video of Avery's first roll over (from 3/1)!! We had just gotten home from our trip to oklahoma and I had put her down on her play mat while I grabbed her pack n play from the car. After I carried it into the bedroom I was walking back to get more stuff out when I noticed she was kinda rocking back and forth. She's never done that before so I whipped out my phone just in case. Sure enough not 5 seconds later she rolled over! She has only done it once so far so I don't think she knows what she did yet but it was still very exciting. I was starting to think she's crawl before she rolled over :D

home again

Ave and I had a great weekend in Oklahoma! Friday night my parents kept Avery while I got to spend time with the girls for Melissa's birthday! We had a great time and Avery was good for my parents! :D Here are a few pics from this weekend:
